Raina's Best Karaoke Anthems

There are some song you here at t he karaoke bar and you're like, OMG, this is it, this is sort of like the BEST KARAOKE SONG EVER. Especially if people have been singing the Jonas Brothers or less known Avril Lavigne which don't get anyone moving on the floor. Here's a collection of tried and true classics that have been field researched by yours truly.
1
journey
Even though Steve Perry's operative voice is hard to top, it won't matter because everyone in the house will be singing along with this fist pumping rock anthem. "Just a small town girl..."
2
Tainted Love
This new wave classic will make Gen X-ers nostalgic for the time of eyeliner wearing men and asymmetrical haircuts. The best part is the bridge with the Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go"
3
Sweet Caroline
"So good So good!" Another crowd pleaser, "Sweet Caroline" which is actually about Caroline Kennedy as a child, starts off slow and then elevates to a very singable chorus, even if you're tone-deaf.

humanleague
I realized my list is really dating me as an 80's kid, but yeah, this is a dramatic duet about a failed love affair. The best part if you can act out all the parts on stage.
5
Faith by George Michael
If you can pull of the butt-shaking, the crowd will be all yours. Make sure you're wearing extra-tight blue jeans and a guitar (just for looks).
6
what a feeling by irene cara
The lyrics of this one seem to sum of what karaoke is all about! And I love the imagery: "I hear the music, close my eyes, I am rhythm..." You can imagine yourself as Jennifer Beals dancing away in front of those snooty judges!
7
Torn
Ok I admit this isn't all fist pumping in the sky, but it's pretty AWESOME when guys sing this sensitive pop ballad.
8
somebody's baby
OMG OMG this is so early 80's yacht rock. AND it makes me think of girls with feathered hair, really large skate boards, and the classic film, Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Pretty rocking pop song, and pretty darn Americanan.
9
Wayne Newton
Take a cue from Ferris Bueller. Sing this classic to charm any weary crowd.
10
Billy Joel
"Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound, funny but it's still rock and roll to me..."

What did you think of this list?
