On another related note, Dan and Jordan listen to OIML's comments about the previous U-Turn and correctly conclude that Brent and her idiotic girlfriend went after Carol and Brandy entirely for emotional reasons and not strategic ones. They then go on to say that the Cowboys have proven to be the strongest team so far and that they should have been U-Turned, not Carol and Brandy. Jordan concludes his confessional by saying that not U-Turning the Cowboys could cost the other teams dearly. Could this be a hint of foreshadowing here? It could be. Maybe this is the editors way of subtlely hinting to the viewers that the Cowboys will win the Amazing Race. It's very possible. Right now, the Cowboys are definitely the front runners in terms of competition. I could see them taking home the money when it's all said and done with. Brent and OIML may have made a HUGE mistake in not U-Turning the Cowboys. But only time will tell.
The racers get on their flight and land in Shanghai, China. They take taxi cabs to Zhujiajiao and eventually get on the boats that take them to their next clue. The racers open up this clue and discover the Roadblock for this leg of the race. One team member must take a pile of dough and turn it into 1,000 grams of noodles by hand. After the team member has successfully completed this task, He PingPing (the world's shortest man) will hand the racers their next clue (unfortunately, He PingPing passed away shortly after this was filmed. Very sad to hear that). This proved to be a very difficult task for most of the contestants. They have to wrap the dough and spread it apart the right way to turn it into noodles, which can take a lot of time. OIML arrived at the Roadblock first, but her lead quickly evaporated after Jet showed up and got to work. Jet finished the task fairly quickly and the Cowboys were the first to leave. OIML ran into some hiccups along the way, but she eventually finished as well and she, along with Brent, were able to head out. The other two teams were not as lucky. D&J (Dan and Jordan) and L&M (Louie and Michael) had taxi drivers who didn't know how to get to Zhujiajiao which cost both teams valuable time. Eventually, both teams make it to the roadblock. Louie and Jordan choose to do the task for their respective teams and they both struggle with it for a long time. Louie eventually realizes that adding flour to the dough helps to spread it apart which makes it easier to convert it into noodles. Louie applies this technique to his dough and completes the task, allowing the Detectives to be the third team to leave the Roadblock. Jordan is the last person left and gets extremely frustrated. He's not making the noodles in the right way and he almost has a meltdown. His brother, Dan, hugs him and gives him support. After a very long time, Jordan finally finishes the task and the brothers leave. When the two brothers get back inisde their cab, Dan says to Jordan "You smell like Noodles", lol. This task looked very time consuming and I know that I would have a rough time with it. The weather also appeared to be very cold, so that would have made things worse. Overall, it's nice to see that all the teams got through this roadblock. Dan and Jordan are bringing up the rear now, so they're going to have to stay focused if they want to avoid being eliminated this episode.
After the Roadblock is completed, the teams receive their next clue which tells them to go back to Shanghai and find the city's fashion district. Once there, teams receive their next clue which tells them to go into a fashion house and choose a model who will hand them a sketch of a specific clothing design. Then the teams must search through many racks of clothes to find the exact clothing items that match the items portrayed in the sketch. Once teams think that they have found the right articles of clothing, they must hand them to their model who will go into a dressing room and try them on. The model will come out of the dressing room wearing the outfit that the team has picked out for her. If the outfit that the model is wearing matches the outfit in their sketch, the fashion designer will hand the team their next clue. If the outfit that the model is wearing does not match the sketch, the team must go back and search through the clothes again until they find the right outfit. Most of the teams seemed to have trouble with this task. The Cowboys were the first to arrive and they joked several times about how out of their element they both are when it comes to fashion, lol. The Cowboys picked out an outfit for their model, but unfortunately, they picked out the wrong skirt for her. After finding the right skirt, the Cowboys completed the task and received their next clue. Brent and OIML show up next and complete the task fairly quickly. The last two teams ran into a bit of trouble with this task. Louie and Michael picked out several different outfits for their model, but none of them were correct. Dan and Jordan ran into the same problem as well with their outfit. Eventually, both D&J and L&M realize that the articles of clothing that they need are on the opposing team's model. After both models switched the stockings that they were wearing, both teams got the task right and were able to leave the fashion house. This task would have also been a hard one for me to do. I'm not a fashion guy by any stretch of the imagination and I simply don't have the eye for detail that one would need in order to pick out an exact outfit for somebody. I would've been in there for days trying to figure that out, lol. But luckily, all of the teams got it done and we can move on.
After completing the fashion house task, the teams receive their next clue telling them to go to Hong Kou Football Stadium. The teams head to the stadium and find their next clue, which is a Roadblock. Now I know what all of you are thinking. You're all saying to yourselves "But Pardolis, we already had a Roadblock on this leg of the race. There can't possibly be another one on the same episode". Well guess what, ladies and gentlemen? For the first time in Amazing Race history, there are TWO roadblocks on the same leg of the race. However, there is a catch. The team member that did not do the first roadblock earlier with the noodles MUST be the person who does this roadblock. Here, that team member must complete a puzzle. That person must take 96 giant cards and rearrange them into a picture of a chinese dragon. The team member will have a small completed version of the picture as reference to help them solve the puzzle, but that's it. Once the giant puzzle has been correctly assembled into a picture, the team member must gather up the pieces and hand them to spectactors sitting in the stands of the stadium. If the team member has handed out the pieces of the puzzle correctly to the spectactors, the spectactors will then flip over their pieces of the puzzle to the back side, revealing the location of a seat in the stadium (for example: Section 20, Row 16, Seat 33). The team member must then use this information on the back of the puzzle to search for that specific seat in the stadium. Once a team member finds that seat, the next clue will be hidden underneath it and that team can then leave the stadium. This was not an easy task and it caused some major hardships for our contestants. The biggest problem was the wind. It would suddenly pick up and send most or all of your pieces flying across the field, which meant that you had to reassemble the puzzle all over again. It was very frustrating for the people who had to perform this task. Cord reached the Roadblock first, with Brent following very closely behind. Brent thought that he could get ahead of Cord and gain the lead, but a wind gust ruined those plans and sent Brent's puzzle pieces flying through the air. Brent fell behind and Cord was able to get his puzzle completed first. He found the seat he needed to in the stadium and received the next clue. Brent soon finished shortly afterwards and he, along with OIML, headed out. Our two bottom teams have yet to come from behind and they're fighting to not be last. Michael and Dan begin working on their puzzles at around the same time. Michael becomes confused and can't seem to figure his puzzle out. Dan gets ahead of Michael and completes the puzzle for his team. Dan gets the clue and he and Jordan head out. Michael finishes dead last and by the time he does, it is dark outside. Uh-Oh. It's not looking too good for the detectives at the moment.
