Touch...Why I Can't Keep My Hands Off of You!

As Erykah Badu once sang, "I'm an analog girl in a digital world".  I have never had an iPod. That's right- I've never had an iPod or any other MP3 player. What in the world was I thinking? How did I ever live without this? It does EVERYTHING.

I can plan for a night out (no matter where I am thanks to GPS)! I can search for the closest restaurant, read reviews, make reservations, get directions, figure out how much everyone owes plus tip and then, figure out what to do afterward. I can check my bank balance or Mint.com to make sure that I can afford this night out. I can find out if my friends are in the area and if they want to join me.

Now, I do have some issues with my new found life saver:

#1. You have to charge it with the USB cord plugged into your laptop or computer.
#2. I still have to pull out my phone when I want to make a phone call, so that makes two separate devices I have to find a way to carry and to remember.
#3. If you lose it or it's stolen- that's it. You'd think that with the ability to locate restaurants, bars, movies, or anything else based on your location that Apple would easily be able to locate your lost/stolen phone. Not so. Apparently, they're making a newer model this summer with GPS chip included, I can only imagine how much that's going to cost.
#4. MUST HAVE WI-FI for most of the apps that you would use for a night on the town. Luckily, almost everywhere you go there's Wi-Fi but, that Wi-Fi isn't always free or unsecure. So, do NOT rely on the apps to find your car for you in the Angels stadium parking lot, no Wi-Fi, just for example! There isn't any data plans that serve the Touch, it's only Wi-Fi.

My FAVORITE Apps are:

#1. To Do's- I am constantly writing reminders to myself all over the place and forgetting where I wrote what, this App completely solves my problem with this and it organizes the list items based on priority and you just touch it when it's done. It will keep the number of To Do's on the front of the App button until you do them!

#2. iWant- This wonderful App allows you to find ANYTHING you could want based on your location, using GPS. It includes names of places, reviews, directions, and you can search by type of restaurant/bar/club/movie/etc.

#3. Maps- I'm CONSTANTLY getting lost, even if I print out the directions before leaving the house, because my boyfriend and I have different ways of writing down directions. I'm the step-by-step type and he's the look-at-the-map-and-I'll-know type. This has caused many an argument which this lovely App solves.

#4. Mint.com- I'm a newbie to this site and the App is even better. It helps me stay on top of my finances, SO important for today's times, and lets me know if I can really afford that great new bar that iWant suggested!

#5. Shazam- Have you ever heard a song that you LOVED and had NO CLUE who sang it? Well, here is your savior! Just hold your Touch up to the speaker and voila- you will get your answer.

At the end of the day, it's awesome to listen to thousands of songs while organizing my to-do list and checking email. The Touch is the multi-tasker's perfect accessory.
