John Turturro was born on February 28th 1957 in Brooklyn, NY as in an American writer, director and actor. He is best known for his roles in
The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and as Agent Simmons in
Transformers and
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Turturro is a a Brooklyn native, but when he was six, moved to Queens. He was a drama major at the State University of New York at New Paltz and later finished his MFA at the Yale School of Drama. His first role on film was as an extra in the 1980 film,
Raging Bull.
John Turturro is also known to have an excellent friendship with famous director
Spike Lee, starring in many of his films including
Jungle Fever,
He Got Game,
Summer of Sam,
She Hate Me and
Miracle at St. Anna. He also has a working relationship with the Coen Brothers and has appeared in some of their films such as The Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. Turturro has also appeared in many of Adam Sandler's movies including
Mr. Deeds and
You Don't Mess With the Zohan. Among other roles such as Johnny Depp's "nemesis" in
Secret Window and Monk's brother in the hit USA Network show
Monk, he has recently played the role of Agent Simmons in Michael Bay's
Transformers and
