The miss world from India who became an actor

Aishwarya Rai is an internationally renowned Indian actress. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model, and gained fame after winning the Miss World contest in 1994.

Often acclaimed as the most beautiful woman in the world,[4] Rai made her movie debut in Mani Ratnam's Tamil film, Iruvar (1997). She had her first commercial success in the Tamil movie Jeans (1998), and came to the attention of Bollywood in the Hindi movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her performance in the film won her the Filmfare Best Actress Award, and she successfully performed in Bhansali's next project, Devdas (2002), for which she won her second Best Actress Award at the Filmfare. Since then, she has acted in over forty movies in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and English, including the international productions, Bride & Prejudice (2003), Mistress of Spices (2006) and The Last Legion (2007) in English.

She was just so totally gorgeous in JODHAA AKBAR. She's married to Abhishek Bachchan, isn't she?

I always suspected that, but there are so many actors with similar family names that I'm never certain whether they've gone into the family business or it's just a common name, or they've adopted that surname because it IS the name of famous actors.

I love 'em. Can't get enouogh. But I don't like modern ones set in Britain. I prefer historical ones set In India, and there aren't quite as many of those made anymore.

yeah the time has change the way they make movies now... but once in a while they produce good ones.

I'm not a fan, strictly speaking, of big budget boms like the Roland Emmerich films--2012, INDEPENDENCE DAY etc. He even managed to screw up GODZILLA! How can anyone screw up Godzilla?

She is sooooo beautiful.  I just saw jodhaa akbar last weekend and fell in love with her, too!  (My movie review to come soon)  I can totally see why all the guys are drooling over her.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is an Indian actress and former Miss World. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 1994. During her career, Rai has acted in over forty movies in Hindi, English, Tamil and Bengali including the international productions Bride & Prejudice (2004), The Mistress of Spices (2005), The Last Legion (2007) and The Pink Panther 2 (2009) in English.

She later appeared in films like Guru (2007) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), which were commercially successful and gained her critical acclaim. Rai has thus established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in the Indian film industry.
