A couple of weeks ago I was perusing the mens shoe department at the Macy's Mens store. I was greeted by a very kind Sales Representative who was very helpful and shared my overall sarcastic view of the world. I ended up buying a pair of Chuck Taylor's and agreed to apply for the Macy's Card. Not shockingly I was approved (because my credit is so damn stellar...right!) and I was told of all the benefits that having this card in my wallet would bring. I walked out of the store that day thinking to myself that I was a very good consumer and was looking forward to my future Macy's discounts that my new Card would bring on future purchases.
Well today I visited Macy's again with the intent of purchasing a pair of$40 Levis. My newly aquired Macy's card guaranteed an additional 15% discount of my next 2 purchases - this being the first. So what happens? Well I get to the checkout with my Levis in hand, hand the clerk my Macy's card and express to her my excitement about my 15% discount. She looks at me and says "Oh know sweetheart, Levis are one of the Excluded Brands from said discount." I ask her how many other brands are discount "excluded" and she pretty much runs down the list of every F*N brand in the C*Sucking store! Needless to say I went ahead and purchased my jeans anyway. Guess what I did when I got home? That's right I paid off and cancelled my card. Late Macy's!
For as long as I can remember, Macy's has been the "cool kid" store. It was the place you can count on that wouldn't mess around when it came to giving you a nice shirt. Though it never meant that the price was right, you always knew you were to definitely find something at Macy's. They have a good mix of brands that are well known and on days when they have a sale, you'll know it's on! Much of my wardrobe has come from Macy's, and so has many of the gifts … more
I admit it. I am biased against Macy's, solely because they bought-out a longtime Chicago staple (and landmark), Marshall Fields. Turn the mall stores into Macy's, but really, did you HAVE to do the same with the landmark flagship store on State St? Needless to say, I have yet to patronize Macy's since the takeover, and it's been about 2 years.
Macy's is a chain of mid-range department stores catering to the tastes of men, women, and children. Their flagship store is in New York City in Herald Square. The company currently has over 800 stores nationwide.
In terms of women's clothes, the department store carries such brands as Tommy Hilfiger, Alfani, Calvin Klein, Nine West, and Guess.
