If any other compilation of early Neubauten live performances captured the brutal thrill and primal frenzy of EN in the early '80s more ably than 2x4, I haven't heard it. ROIR's excellent audio cassette edition was more critically and commercially successful than Neubauten's own studio-forged Kollaps or Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T. LPs; the quality of the album's audio fidelity and the performances themselves ensured excellent sales for 2x4 in spite of competition consisting of innumerable live bootlegs that were heavily circulated throughout Europe during the '80s. It's also a great companion album to supplement the first Strategies Against Architecture compilation.
