So I was able to listen to most of the tracks on Ciara's 3rd album, "Fantasy Ride," before its official U.S. release date of May 5th, but just barely getting to reviewing it now. Or at least setting down my thoughts... Could be because overall it's not all that memorable.
Having just given you my thoughts in four words on how it's pretty much middle-of-the-road –and there's another 4, made into one– rather than giving you some traditional review, let me give you some insight on some of the tracks, which might help you decide whether to get the album or purchase certain tracks. Really just some quick impressions, hopefully giving you the vibe of each song.
>Echo: strong club vibe, with a splash of crunk
>G is for Girl (A to Z): club/hip-hop; thumpin'
>Go Girl (f. T-Pain): R&B-Lovers, good beat
>I don't Remember: dance-ballad; Okay, but I can't wait for a good remix on this!
>Keep Dancing: Ne-Yo-esque R&B
>Turn the Tables: also Ne-Yo-esque but dancier, faster yet not as well constructed as a song as Keep Dancing
>Love Sex Magic (f. JT): obviously the hit Pop/dance-hit you've likely heard
>Never Ever: strict R&B-Lovers
>Ciara to the Stage: Strict R&B-Lovers
>Work: not really great but could see this having a run at the clubs (thumpa, thumpa)
>Pucker Up: club, but forgettable
Over all there are a few good dance-ables and there are some good seeds for remixing, so I'll be checking that out if it ever happens. If you like R&B and dance, the album as a whole might work better for you too.
