Lady GaGa's "The Fame" is a must for anyone into dance/pop/electro music. "The Fame" and Lady GaGa has a lot of the style elements of Gwen Stefani and her first release; pure dance, fun, enjoyment and songs that are truly unique to her.
The Good: The dance songs are by far the best about this release. "Just Dance", "Boys, Boys, Boys", "Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" just took me by surprise by how fresh they sounded. These are pop songs, songs that are meant to get you up on your feet dancing and having a good time. I was surprised by how many songs on this release are good because often times new artist have a few misses on their first release that simply don't work. "Starstruck" will please those looking for a little R&B/rap, "Paparazzi" will satisfy your craving for a little bit of a ballad (and this one comes with a great beat, nice lyrics), "Poker Face" is just beyond words, having a bit of a bite and edge to it in a similar production to "Just Dance".
The Bad: Some of the more 'serious' songs fall flat and are a bit of a let down after the great pop songs. "Brown Eyes" and "The Fame" are my least favorite songs because they break away from the other songs and definitely don't carry on with the dance theme of the other songs. There are one or two other songs that kind of have a B-side sound to them but besides these two, the cd is pretty solid.
Definitely a release you should purchase a check out. If you're a fan of Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, then Lady GaGa belongs in your collection and on your list of favorite artists. Check it out, I'm sure you won't be let down by this different, fun, great release.
Pros: An album full of catchy, dance hits... Cons: ...and it's pretty much nothing more than that. The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a fun, dance album, this is it. Anything else, and you may want to look elsewhere. I'm probably not the only one who feels this way, but at this moment in time, I'm pretty tired of Lady Gaga. It's funny, because when I first heard of her and bought her music, it was this time last … more
Normally, music such as Lady Gagas might annoy me, but for some reason, I just love her album The Fame. I think part of this comes from my love of electronica. Though a lot of Lady Gagas songs have pop elements, they also have this great dance club/electronica feel to them. I almost feel as if her music is better suited for some European Discotecas. I'm sure that might actually be the case. But just like in my headline, her music really makes me want to go clubbing, … more
I just LOVE LOVE this CD! It's simply great infectious pop perfection that will have you playing these songs over and over again (that is, of course, if you like this type of music). Lady Gaga's music is reminiscent of older Madonna/ABBA/Gwen Stefani, but with her own electronic/techno spin. Honestly, this is the CD that Madonna wishes she made instead of the mediocre "Hard Candy" (I'm a big Madonna fan, just not a fan of her last CD). I would have bought Lady Gaga's album … more
