A terrific mix of sound and feel

The Twilight soundtrack is a great mix of music. All the songs maintain a sense of the darker side of life and emotion bottled into a soundtrack that I can't stop listening to. Not only are they terrific unique sounds and melodies, but the lyrics really take you through the film, it's characters, the story, and more. Had I not discovered these bands, songs, or melodies through this soundtrack, my musical education would definitely be lacking.

1. "Supermassive Black Hole" Muse - a great sexy rock anthem that always pumps me up
2. "Decode" Paramore - the main anthem for the movie, filled with universal lyrics and true force
3. "Full Moon" The Black Ghosts - the melody echoes a sweet night filled with stars
4. "Leave Out All the Rest" Linkin Park - reminds me of early Linkin Park (less yelling, think "My December") and I love it
5. "Spotlight (Twilight Mix)" Mutemath - the intro reminds me of 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' and then it segues into a fun action song
6. "Go All the Way (Into the Twilight)" Perry Farrell - a great mix from Farrell, full of sexiness
7. "Tremble for My Beloved" Collective Soul - one of my more favorite representations of the 90's
8. "I Caught Myself" Paramore - a catchy Paramore song that isn't just "noise"
9. "Eyes on Fire" Blue Foundation - I have never heard a more sinister sexy song than this
10. "Never Think" Rob Pattinson - one of the film's stars showcasing his very real and talented ability to sing/write/and play guitar
11. "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" Iron & Wine - such a sweet, romantic, wistful song
12. "Bella's Lullaby" Carter Burwell - I heard this melody was written originally for Burwell's wife and it makes me wish I was lucky enough to be her
13. "Let Me Sign" Rob Pattinson - angst bottled into a song, it's pretty stunning
14. "La Traviata" The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - originally used in a slightly comical scene in the film, but it's nice to appreciate opera music regardless
15. "Clair de Lune" Debussy - I'd never heard of Debussy prior to this soundtrack and don't make a habit of listening to classical piano music, but I'm changing that now

Great review! I've been so involved with movie plot and characters when watching that I guess I wasn't paying attention to the music in the background. I'll definitely have to check this out! BTW, this review would be a great addition to the Twilight Saga community! You should check it out:)

For "Let Me Sign" - it was the angst of the scene (movie scene) within the movie and the song itself. Maybe I don't take the time to listen to songs/voices/lyrics such as this but it's definitely striking when you do. I'm not sure what you mean about release vs. angst, but for what I know, I'd say angst from what I hear.

Pros: Skilled music     Cons: Uninspiring (to me), very little diversity     The Bottom Line: Let's face it; the bottom line is not impressed.     Though I've not reviewed a soundtrack by Carter Burwell before, I've seen his name around plenty of times.  Enough to know it when I spotted it.  Surprisingly enough, I was referred to this soundtrack by a friend, whose musical tastes are a far cry from what we've got going on here.  …

Pros: Nice collection of songs, a few stellar tracks from lesser known artist, Robert Pattinson's songs...     Cons: ...a few unnecessary remixes, Bella's Lullaby :(     The Bottom Line: The Twilight Soundtrack is surprisingly good.  I'm honestly looking forward to the indie-goodness that seems to be the New Moon soundtrack even more, however...     Okay, I am painfully aware of the fact that I'm a twenty-two year old woman …

Part of what makes the film version of "Twilight" work is the fact that its music fits it perfectly. For fans of the film (and the book) this soundtrack provides those songs in a near perfect collection.    Opening with the "baseball" song from the film, Muse's "Supermassive Black Hole," the tone is set early for the remainder of the disc. The song is haunting, funky, and very listenable. From there the album roles into the first of two Paramore tunes, "Decode." Personally, I …

About this album

Based on Stephenie Meyer's #1 New York Times Bestseller of the same name, TWILIGHT explores the complex intertwining of teenage romance and the dark world of vampires. Chop Shop Records compiled this soundtrack with songs that accentuate the film's already ethereal atmosphere. Featuring two brand-new songs by Paramore (including the single "Decode") and one new track by Perry Farrell, TWILIGHT is just as much an adventure as the film. Also included are songs by Muse, Linkin Park, and a contribution by one of the film's stars, Rob Pattinson, who portrays the character Edward Cullen.

Song List: Disc 1
1. Supermassive Black Hole
2. Decode
3. Full Moon
4. Leave Out All The Rest
5. Spotlight [Twilight Mix] (mix)
6. Go All The Way (Into The Twilight)
7. Tremble For My Beloved
8. I Caught Myself
9. Eyes On Fire
10. Never Think
11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth
