Blink 182 is one of if not the single most influential bands of the past 20 years

Blink 182 has always written sincere and fun music.  Their lyrics aren't always the best, and their musicianship certainly isn't awe-inspiring, but they bring an energy and passion that most bands/artists just don't have.

They will definitely go down in history as one of the most influential bands of all time.

Blink-182 is by far the most influential band I've ever come across. Music is a HUGE part of my life, and I'm proud to say that Blink has played a tremendous role of influencing me to grow up. They showed me that it's okay to take your time growing up, and to never take what life throws at you too seriously. I'm still in High School, And I have yet another two years to go. But I have to say, the farther and farther I get into my High School experience, the more the lyrics to their songs make sense to me. Many wouldn't consider Blink influential due to their use of vulgar language and inappropriate jokes, but it's all in good fun. I see them as three best friends in amazing band. They'll do anything to make their fans laugh and appreciate them. When they broke up back in 2005 on my birthday, I was devastated. My mind couldn't even function at that point knowing that I'd never be able to see my favorite band preform live. But what do you know, they're back together, and I'm seeing them live in August. Hopefully sometime soon, I'll be able to meet Mark, Tom, and Travis, and tell them how much I appreciate everything they've done.

Whoa, Marina, you should turn this comment into a review of Blink 182!  I loved them in high school, as well and had all their CDs! :)

They're certainly one of the catchiest mainstream punk bands. Who doesn't know all the lyrics of "All The Small Things?" and that video mocking the backstreet boys was classic

I couldn't disagree with you more. I own every Blink CD and have seen them perform live about five times, but too me, they were just like every other pop-punk band. Green Day is one of the best bands of the past 20 years and easily one of the top three bands that inspired Blink. Billie Joe Armstrong is a lyrical genius and the music is nothing short of perfection.

I definitely think both bands have their strengths, but I think Blink really brought the genre to the forefront of mainstream media. No doubt Green Day played a huge part not only in defining the genre, but also making bands like Blink possible. I just don't think they really had the impact on future generations of bands that Blink did. I guess my title should be changed, because I'm not trying to say Blink is better, I'm just saying that I think they will be cited before a lot of other bands with fans and bands a like in today's scene.

""The band was originally composed of Tom DeLonge (vocals, guitar), Mark Hoppus (vocals, bass) and Scott Raynor (drums).[9] In 1998, midway through a U.S. tour, drummer Travis Barker replaced Raynor. DeLonge left the group in early 2005, initiating an indefinite hiatus. DeLonge went on to form Angels & Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued playing music together in +44. On February 8, 2009, Blink-182 announced that they are continuing as a band.[10]
