How does it look? How's the color? Clarity? Head?
- Cloudy and amber, like cider but not quite so cloudy. It is the most foamy beer I've run into in recent memory, if pouring in a glass be extremely careful and be patient as it settles -- or use a huge glass.
How's the nose (smell)? Sweet, spicy, fruity?
- Somewhat metallic with some hoppy bitterness and a little citrus hiding in there
How does it taste? Malty? Hoppy? Fruity? Chalky?
- There are enough hops in it for me to want to go ahead and finish the six pack rather than take it to a semi-friend's house as my donation to the beer supply. But it has the almost gross sweetness and strange cinnamon/nutmeg/allspice taste that come with wheat beers and I didn't get any indication that's what this was.
Is it full-bodied? Medium bodied? Weak? Clean?
- It is full-bodied and has a pretty complex aftertaste so it isn't clean, but is not unpleasant.
Where did you buy it? How much was it?
- Birmingham AL, $10 six pack bottles
What do you think overall? Would you buy it again?
- Laughing Skull is a poor mix of heffeweisen and ale -- it isn't quite as sweet as the wheat beers and not quite as bitter as good ales. If you like wheat beers, then I think this is worth a try, but understand that it isn't billing itself as such. No, I will not be buying this beer again.
