A pleasing cold lager to accompany a summer barbecue (lamb shishkabobs anyone?)

Mythos isn't going to win any awards at the next international lager competition but it certainly isn't going to gross anyone out either.

As I sipped on my first bottle of Mythos Hellenic Lager Beer, I was reminded of my recent taste of Japan's Asahi Super Dry. This beer runs right down the middle of every road I could think of. It's got a pleasant, refreshing, smooth taste and an attractive blonde colour topped with a frothy, medium head. Slightly bitter and hoppy (moreso than Asahi), its flavour is pleasant but only mildly distinctive without being outstanding. If you gave me an unlabelled glass full, it's doubtful I could identify it out of a handful of other lagers.

That said, I'm sure if you offered Mythos to a group of Greeks enjoying a pig roast in the backyard open pit barbecue, I'm sure you'd be greeted by smiles all round.

I enjoyed your review. I first had Mythos when I was in Santorini about five years ago. I recently have seen it locally at my home in Baltimore. I can't say its a favorite, but it does bring back great memories.

It was a fun evening and as the line of empty bottles grew longer we seemed to enjoy the Mythos more and more. I recently found Mythos at my local liquor store at home in Baltimore. I bought a six pack just for old times sake. Now, while not in Santorini and not on the …

Neither offensive nor outstanding; hoppy, slightly bitter but not overpowering; cool and refreshing! A good choice for a summer cold one!
