This is book number two of the Meredith Gentry series, after having read book number one i was intrigued....and really ready to know what happens next. Will she get pregnant and take the throne of the Unseelie court? Or will her cousin win the race, produce a child and become king? With all the political issues brewing at the end of the first book this one could have gone many different ways. I'm not going to ruin the story for what i hope are soon-to-be readers so all i will say is that by the end of this book there is still no baby on the way for either of the heirs, but there is a baby on the way for someone else with Merry and one of her guards assistance (sounds weird i know). Also the arrangement with the goblins is still standing and strengthened with Kitto coming into his sidhe power. A new arrangement is made with the queen of the demi-fey that will offer Merry extra protection and political pull in fairie. The major high point in this book is that someone in fairie has released an old evil called "the nameless" and is unable to contain it anymore. Merry and her guards find the nameless right in their backyard in LA and are forced to deal with it....but at what expense? I liked the first book in this series, but i think i enjoyed this one more. The storyline is less all over the place and the characters are more defined, leaving less unanswered questions on the readers part. Some of the characters are so different from human beings in these books that they require a bit of explanation before the reader can really understand who and what they are, physically and otherwise. This book offered more of these explanations that the first did, and for that i was grateful. There was also a little bit more action in this book with the characters facing their problems with the nameless, and with several unexplained mass murders of humans. Also i found that while sexual content was still a part of this book more of it was "implied" as opposed to paragraphs of details, making it a little bit less graphic than the first one was, but not to tame to be dull. This is a long series that has not ended even now so i am hoping that the rest of the books are as good as this one, since this is on it's way to becoming my new favorite book series.

Faeries, Fallen Gods, and Death in Book 2 of the Merry Gentry Series
My original review for this book was a few sentences long, so my details are not as precise as I would like. The entry read as follows:       "I enjoyed this novel because the author developed Meredith's character even more than the first one in the series. I was a bit disappointed that Laurell K Hamilton did not elaborate on the relationship between Merry and Frost more, but I am hoping that the third novel will go into more details about it. My only …

I eagerly awaited this book, and wasn't disappointed when I finally got it. It follows the first (which was also great) and left me wanting more. Very enjoyable!
