A child called it, is by far one of the most sad story's I've ever read. Its about a boy who grows up getting abused terribly by his mother. Every page in this book is depressing. Its just really sad. The reason why it such an a amazing story though, is because its just so REAL. When your reading throughout this book, your heart just starts to feel so bad for David. The book provokes real emotions and feelings especially when Dave's mother tortured him with things like forcing …

This book was a great book! It was very sad at times but so intriuging at the same time. I just never wanted to put it down. I think for the most part it might have been i wanted to see what awful thing his mother was going to do next. The book is about a kid growing up in a poor household and ultimately just getting treated like dirt, worse than dirt. His family hated him, the kids at school hated him, this book really touches your heart. It almost puts you in disbelief that things …

A Child Called
I read this book many many years ago and I just had to review it.  I came across this book in high school when I was looking for a book to read for 'silent reading'.  Anyways, I read the title, saw the cute little boy on the cover and grabbed it.    While I was reading it:  Well, it was supposed to be 'silent reading' but there was nothing silent about it.  The entire class knew I was crying.  Nooooo, I was not crying loud, but …

This story ripped my heart right out. To think that someone went through all the horrific things in this book is crazy, and to think that that person was only a small child. I can only say that this book made me cry.       i reccomend this book to anyone with a heart. This book is captivating and tragic, and I felt deeply involved in this man's life by the end of the story.    a rural town  in a house with a terrible …

About the book:

Description:

This book chronicles the unforgettable account of one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It is the story of Dave Pelzer, who was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother: a mother who played tortuous, unpredictable games--games that left him nearly dead. He had to learn how to play his mother's games in order to survive because she no longer considered him a son, but a slave; and no longer a boy, but an "it."
