A complete and essential reference

  • May 16, 2010
As digital photography becomes easier and cheaper to execute, altering the original images to suit becomes a complex art form. Digital image manipulation software is now extremely complex, the learning curve, both in terms of what tools are available as well as how they change the image has become a steep one. This book is a listing and explanation of the tools and doohickeys available in Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. In many cases there is also a set of before and after pictures to reinforce your understanding of how the tool changes the appearance of the image.
This book could serve as a reference or textbook for people either learning Photoshop or those that have used it for some time. I have an in-depth understanding of digital data yet I learned some interesting facts about how digital cameras capture the data and then process it internally. I am not by any means a power user of Photoshop, yet I have always been impressed by what it could do. After reading this book, I am even more impressed (awed) by what the package can do. This is truly a necessary reference for anyone using the software, if you are like me, there are features that you rarely use, but when you need them you really need them. With this book at your side, there will no brief moment of panic as you try to figure out how to do something.

In the past I have found that Focal Press books are generally an excellent value and …
