Pet owners and lovers, of which I am one, enjoy their antics even when they are annoying and frustrating. Bailey is a real dog that "owns" the author, a mail carrier. Like all good dogs, he is full of mischief, waiting for Haggerty to go to work so that he can find his friend Frankie and go exploring. Frankie is a wiener dog possessing the same spirit of adventure that Bailey does. Their day is spent in chasing things, running through ditches and mooching as much food as possible from the humans that they have trained so well. Children will love reading about Bailey and Frankie as they can relate their experiences with pets to the events in this book. The last few pages are devoted to photos of Bailey in action, performing the tasks described in the book. This is a nice story for the child that either has a dog or a desire to have one. Adults can also relate to Bailey's antics as he romps through another day.
Aimed at beginning readers, this large picture book tells the tale of Bailey, a pointer dog that lives in Arizona. When he wakes up it is out the door by himself to explore. First he plays with a lizard that is sunning himself on the wall of a fence. Bailey gets over the fence and checks … more
