A Professional Scrapbook of Obama's Life!

  • Feb 7, 2009
  • by
I am currently still obsessed with Obama.  I don't think there has been a day since his inauguration (ok to be fair, there hasn't been that many days since the inauguration in general)  that I haven't opened up an article and thought "YESSS! This is my president!! I love Obama!"
So I've gone around googling for photos of Obama's family, read up on articles and watched Youtube videos of Obama's visits to Ben's Chili Bowl Diner (he's so chill, and so real!) just to get more of him!

And then today I was at Costco with my mom just to pick up Ensure and spinach when we came across this scrapbook of Barack Obama.

Obama & Scrapbook?! What could be better!?!  Oh, and side note: It's $28.99 at Costco but there were only 3 left.

  • The book slides into a box. That makes it official .. it's a collectible historic item!
  • Not only Obama's story through photos and writing, but pockets that hold the pins from the campaign, his headshots, his posters, 4th grade yearbook photos, pictures of him drawn by 8 year olds (so precious!!), photos of him and his family.
  • His family - in Indonesia, Hawaii, Kenya, the United States.
  • His accomplishments - him in action as Senator, a professor @ University of Chicago (this really gave me chills, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be able to say Obama was once your professor!),
  • Not only HIS story of how he became president, but about Hillary, McCain, Biden and Palin (and a copy of her speech at the Republican National Convention).  And let's face it, you probably won't be able to bring up Obama and this election without mentioning Sarah Palin.
  • The latter half of the book really outlines the last few months of the campaign, from debates to the the stories from other American citizens witnesses history, and even mentioning how bad the economy in the U.S. had come to be at this point in time.
  • And the end - election day: I was flipping through this book and I still got chills when I saw the two page spread of the Chicago streets the night history was made. And then Obama's quote: "If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, tonight is your answer."
There is a ton of information, AMAZING photos, and paraphernalia that will honestly bring you back to 2008 when you take a look at this 50 years later.  It's 144 pages about our first African-American president and the history that he made, and because it's scrapbook style - it won't be like the typical history book that sits on my shelf - years down the line I'll be able to look through this and remember those photos, remember his speeches, and remember his posters that had been plastered all over my room and my Facebook profile.  I may just still  be on this Obama high and fall into the category of people who spend money recklessly and will buy anything that has Obama's name on it, but at least now I can say I have a copy of his birth certificate!!
