Growing up, Roald Dahl was my favorite author. By the time I was in 5th grade, I read all of his books, and even got my hands on a biography about him. "Boy" was the last book of his I read during this phase, and I truly believe it is one of his most magical and interesting writings.
Dahl recounts his childhood growing up in England, telling stories of his siblings, schooling and sweets. Many tragedies touched his famly when he was young, and he goes into detail about these events. He also made a lot of mischeif as a boy (a la Matilda), and explains his antics and the reasons behind them.
The way in which Dahl tells these stories makes you feel like you are hearing these over tea and crumpets; they are casual, fun stories that read very quickly. If you enjoy Dahl's books, I would highly reccomend reading "Boy."
