Who knows what really goes on at Capitol Hill?

  • Mar 6, 2012
Phillip Margolin uses a three pronged approach to this story.

First we have serial killer Clarence Little. He murders and mutilates young women. When one of the cases he was found guilty of, reveals tainted evidence, that case is overturned and his other cases are revisited.

Brad Miller, an attorney was active in compiling the evidence that led to Little's conviction being overturned. Then Miller learns that Little has escaped from prison and is concerned about his own wife.

At the same time, there is a terrorist plot to blow up a professional football stadium while packed with fans watching a Monday night football game.

Finally, Miller now works for Senator Jack Carson. Carson is a liberal and also has a hidden sexual appetite. He will do anything so his sexual activities do not become known.

The story comes together nicely with some interesting plot twists. Brad Miller and P.I. Dana Cutler are interesting and likable characters.

The ending was a bit too convenient and terrorists attacking a football stadium has been done before. Nevertheless the story held my attention right up to the action packed conclusion.

These three things will somehow later converge and the author keeps the reader guessing as to how this will come about. What made this book not necessarily great is that the four main characters (Brad, …

Private investigator Dana Cutler and attorney Brad Miller have overcome more than a few daunting challenges and powerful enemies to see justice done. Against tremendous odds, they successfully unmasked an American president's involvement in a chain of murders. Convicted serial killer Clarence Little has escaped from death row in Oregon, and Brad receives threatening messages in D.C., where he is working for Senator Jack Carson, a high-ranking member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. A dead body, murdered according to Little's M.O., is found in the senator's Georgetown home, and Carson has disappeared. While Dana is in Oregon digging into Carson's shady background, a terrorist cell is poised to destroy a packed professional football stadium in one of the biggest attacks on American soil. As the senator's personal life begins to dovetail with the cell's evil plan, Brad and Dana will risk it all again to uncover the truth and save their country. Phillip Margolin proves once more that he is a true master of suspense, delivering another high-octane thriller set in Washington's legendary corridors of power.
