The Must Own Christian Writing Companion

  • Feb 6, 2009
  • by
Every year Christian writers anxiously await the release of Sally Stuart's must own Christian writing companion. Each massive volume that is released is more and more impressive with the staggering amount of content and insight into the world of Christian publication.

No matter your level of expertise as a writer, there is something here for everyone. Whether you have a novel you want published, or a short story, or even an article looking for a home, this is the book for you. Stuart's impeccable research provides Christian writers with comprehensive lists of publishers, magazines, websites, and journals that are looking for writers. Every listing is detailed with info about the publication, such as its target audience, contact information, and whether or not these are paying gigs. Stuart even lists helpful information about greeting card and specialty markets. Also included in this volume are some great writer tools dealing with writing conferences, editorial services, literary agents, and contests. And don't forget the CD ROM found in the back cover that actually features the full text of the book for easy reference.

If you are an aspiring Christian writer and do not have this fantastic tool, then you are truly at a disadvantage. I don't know how she does it year in and year out, but once again Sally Stuart gives us the most important Christian writing reference in the market.

Christian Writers' Market Guide 2009 by Sally E. Stuart is another outstanding update to an essential annual work. Stuart has been releasing these guides for several years, and they just seem to get better and better. Stuart is constantly finding new contacts for writers while weeding out old ones, and …

Recently I've bought -- and actually used -- the Writer's Market. I knew that there was a version for Christian markets, but I had never bought it, even though the few small paid publishing jobs I've gotten have been in Christian markets.    That said, I was excited to get my hands on Sally Stuart's Christian Writers' Market Guide 2009.    This market guide provides information that the more general Writer's Market cannot provide for such a wide audience. …

About this book

For 24 years running, the Christian Writers’ Market Guide has remained the most comprehensive, complete, essential, and highly-recommended resource for Christian writers, agents, editors, publishers, publicists, and those teaching writing classes. And it’s the tool for both for beginners and industry veterans.
This perennial guide contains a variety of indexes–listed by topic, alphabetical listing of publishing houses and agents, and more–to more than 1,200 markets. Those markets include greeting cards and specialty writing, e-book and traditional book publishing (32 new listings), and periodicals (52 new). Also listed are 96 literary agents, more than 100 new writing resource listings, and 166 contests (29 new).

As with the guide for the last couple years, a CD-Rom is included and contains the text of the book for simple, electronic searches. But the 2009 Guide is handier–a more reder-friendly page count with 100 pages or so of traditional content (like indexes and contest listings) now exclusively on the CD-Rom.

Readers will get the same trusted content, though, as in years past. In fact, the latest information on more than 100 editors and publishers, conferences, writers’ groups, and more are not only listed and indexed in the book, but this year, readers will get a code in the book and on the CD-Rom for accessing more updates through the year on author Sally Stuart’s web site, www.stuartmarket.com.
