More Club Dead (Southern Vampire My... reviews
review by . March 08, 2010
This is probably my favorite so far that I've read in this series, maybe I'm finally getting to know the characters or maybe this storyline was more fleshed-out, I'm not sure. But I did feel this story moved along really well. I did think there was a little higher "gross out" factor than previous books in this series.

I'm curious about the interaction of TV series and series of novels. We rented the TV series based on Jim Butcher's Dresden novels and were instantly hooked. Then I started reading the books and became rapidly even more hooked. My husband followed and we now both qualify as fans of Harry Dresden (but no longer of the TV series). We're not rich fans though; we still have to wait for the paperback editions. Patience is such a hard-earned virtue.      We watched the …

The third installment of Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series, Club Dead, finds our Sookie facing more danger in her life with the vampires, but this time she's doing it with a broken heart. Bill, her vampire boyfriend, has suddenly taken off, reportedly with his former lover, the vampire Lorena. Bill's boss, Eric, is worried enough about Bill (and a secret project Bill's been working on), that he taps Sookie's expertise in mind-reading to help locate him when it seems that Bill may be actually …

The third and thus far best in the Sookie Series sees our spunky little heroine becoming slightly disillusioned with her vampire boyfriend, Bill. Lately he's seemed more interested in his secret "work" than in her...and to add insult to injury, he is leaving town on a secret "work" mission. Sookie is furious...and even more so when she is informed by Eric and Pam that Bill has become involved with his ex-love Lorena....who also happens to be the vamp who "made" Bill. But Bill has since gone missing...and …

Sookie Stackhouse is asked once again by Eric, a vampire leader, to leave her waitress job so that she can use her telepath skills to locate a missing vampire. The problem is the vampire she is supposed to find is her boyfriend, Bill, who she has just learned has betrayed her.    This is an exciting tale with a lot of emotional ups and downs. Poor Sookie seems to get into one difficult situation after another, all to rescue someone she is really angry with. Helping her on her …

About this book

Wiki

Sookie Stackhouse is having man trouble. Her vampire boyfriend, Bill, has been distant and inattentive lately. Then he announces that he is going on a business trip, which clearly is more than it seems. After a werewolf tries to abduct Sookie at work, Bill's boss, Eric, tells her that Bill fell under the sway of his--Bill's, that is--ex, a sexy vamp named Lorena, and has been kidnapped. Eric wants Sookie's help in getting Bill back, and despite her hurt over Bill's betrayal, Sookie agrees to go to Jackson, Mississippi, to find her wayward lover. Eric has persuaded Alcide, a dashing werewolf, to get Sookie access to Josephine's, aka Club Dead, the local hangout of Jackson's supernatural element. In between dodging kidnappers, the advances of amorous Eric, and her growing feelings for Alcide, Sookie has to find out who kidnapped Bill and figure out a way to rescue him. With some droll touches--Elvis, now a vampire, is Sookie's faithful guard --Club Deadis ideal for readers who like their vampire fiction light, humorous, and fast-paced.Kristine Huntley
