Darklands: A Vampires Tale

  • Feb 27, 2011
Do you like paranormal romance novels? Then Darklands: A Vampire's Tale (Volume 1) is right up your alley. The novel is full of adventure, romance and of course your typical blood lusting vampire. I have to warn you that this book is only suitable for the adult reader due to the erotic and sometimes violent scenes in the novel.

I have always loved Gothic and vampire novels. It was an easy a quick read and I was drawn into the story. Devon and Susan have all of the typical vampire qualities (no sunlight, super strength and immortality) but I noticed a little humanity in Susan. I did not like all of the violence in the story but I realized that it was important to have it in the storyline. There were a few unanswered questions that I hope will be covered in the second book of the series. I did notice a few misspelled words but that did not prevent me from finishing the book. I look forward to reading book two in the series and I hope that Ms. Burgess continues to write in the future.

About this book

"Darklands"is a fabulous urban fantasy novel, full off violence, paranormal creatures and fabulous sexual scenes. I was captured from the first page. I had to finish the book to see how this was going to end." --Natasja's Book Blog

This was an engrossing story from beginning to end... it draws you in deeply to the storyline and doesn't let go until the final page...  I highly recommend this to those looking for an exciting read...
--Words of Wisdom....from The Scarf Princess

Darklands was definitely a change of pace.  The tone was gritty, dark, and violent, with several cringe-worthy moments...I would recommend it to fans of urban fantasy and horror, and vampire romance looking for something darker.    --Book of Secrets

Burgess was new to me and she definitely impressed me. I look forward to more of her work, vampire's specifically! --Leilani Loves Books

...the characters are complex and multi-faceted; there's very little that's simple about this book. --Bea's Book Nook
