A pretty good memoir, although it never really answers the question "why do I care?"

More Dry (book) reviews

Augusten Burroughs has always impressed me with his humor and writing style. Dry has been my favorite of his so far. This of his alcohol addiction and experience in and out of rehab strikes me as incredibly honest and heartfelt. I was feeling emotional ups and downs throughout the entire book, and it was very difficult for me to put it down. He finds a way to add his natural humor into a dark storyline. I would recommend this book as a first read for anyone who is looking for a new author.

I love Augusten Burroughs' writing style, in which I don't know why every word is relevant, but it is. I don't know how it all ties together, but it does. I don't see how it could possibly all be true, yet I don't see how it couldn't.

Augusten Burroughs is a trip -- an acid trip, a trip on a bus of lost souls, an ocean voyage with a slightly demented storyteller who is the only person who really knows what's going on. His struggle to get "dry" is candid, hilarious, frightening, utterly human. This amazing "memoirist" is one of our modern literary treasures. Highly recommended.

If you've never read Augusten Burroughs, give him a try. His writing is a lot like David Sedaris. It's so funny and so sad and heartbreaking....

One of my favorites by Borroughs,he is funny and poignant, but sometimes veers towards being a little grating/whiny.

Dry
The New York Times Bestselling Author of Running with Scissors is back with Dry. Augusten Burroughs actually wrote Dry first, eventhough it was published second of his memoir series. This time around he is forced into rehab by his advertising office intervention. Burroughs takes you on a rollercoaster ride with his humor, frustration, cynicism, conflict, lust, and addiction. Burroughs is very honest with his words and proves that it's possible to reinvent oneself, even at rock bottom. And his …
