I picked this up while just browing the book shelves of Barnes and Noble without any recommendation and I was glad to have found it. It turned out to be one of the best novels I've read in recent months.
This is another book about small home town, but the story has elements of mystery, wit and great imagery. I get bored out my mind with books that go into great detail about how things looked, smelled, etc. Without doing that, the author Richard Russo allowed me to paint the images in my head. Werid, but I guess that's what the great writers do to you.
Being a slow reader and having some kind of reading ADD, I take a long time to finish a book. But I was really drawn to this book and finished in my record time!
One draw back to this book was that I like to learn or be exposed to something new even while reading a fiction but I can't say I got that out of this book. Maybe it will be different for you though.
