Marvel announced that one of the Fantastic Four will be 'permanently" killed off and the group will be reformed as something new.  My guess is that it will be Sue Storm.  What do you think?

One year later, we have The Human Torch being resurrected in Fantastic Four #600!

Thanks for this tip so early in the morning!

Coming at the heels of the "deaths" of Batman and Captain America, I'm gonna be cynical here and say it's just a ploy to increase comics sales. As the article had said, others had "died" before and come back. We've even had other people come in as the fourth member of the team.

You can't have the FF without an F. Still, of course I'm going to buy the issue and see what's going on -- just what they wanted, F it! LOL.

I think the character will be the Human Torch.  Someone should finally put out his candle.  And then it will turn out to be the android from the Golden Age!  Or something.

I picked Sue through elimination. Reed is the glue that holds the team together and the face of the team. The Thing is the most visually recognizable of the four and the most fun. Johnny is always wise cracking. Sue is the most boring of the four and her death would have a big impact on Reed and Johnny. Her power of invisibility can easily be replaced by another hero if they still want to be called a foursome.

yeah, I can see that. I have not been keeping up with Marvel. I've mostly been reading the Green Lantern series by DC Comics instead and some Dark Horse Conan issues. I'll have to check FF out now. The "death" issue will be a collector's item for a few weeks then the price will drop like a stone on eBay.

I updated the wiki here too. :)

Are you reading GL in anticipation of the upcoming flick? I know they are going back to the Hal Jordan version of GL for the movie. Is he the current Green Lantern in the comics?
December 23, 2010
Yes, Hal Jordan came back from the "dead" (see what I mean??) a few years ago. They had a great zombie thing going on that was fun. Kyle Rainer was put on the back burner. From the trailer it looks like we'll get the original origin with GL as the test pilot, some science fiction, some comedy and that mentalist villain, Hammond. Hammond is a silver age villain which is always cool, who through mental manipulation can take you over.

I just found out that Marvel is killing off the Ultimate Spiderman character in Feb, written by Brian Michael Bendis. Just too much! Why not get more creative with stories than these stunts? That's why I like DC Comics better -- more involved, character-driven stories, the kind Marvel used to write. :)

One thing that separates this fabulous foursome from the rest of the other super-teams is the fact that they are a FAMILY. They bicker, they argue, they become separated and have differences, but they will always be a family. The comic book became "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine" because of the way it introduced a lot of characters that became icons in the pages of comic books-villains and heroes alike. It wasn't so much as the team was powerful, but the comic was just filled …

About this book

Wiki

The Fantastic Four is a fictional superhero team appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961), which helped to usher in a new level of verisimilitude in the medium.

The Fantastic Four was the first superhero team created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby, who developed a collaborative approach to creating comics with this title that they would use from then on.

As the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics, it formed a cornerstone of the company's rise from a small division of a publishing company to a pop-culture conglomerate.

The title would go on to showcase the talents of comics creators such as Roy Thomas, John Byrne, Steve Englehart, Walt Simonson, John Buscema, George Perez and Tom DeFalco, and is one of several Marvel titles still in publication since the Silver Age of Comic Books.

The four core individuals traditionally associated with the Fantastic Four, who gained superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during a scientific mission to outer space, are: Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), a scientific genius and the leader of the group, who can stretch his body into incredible lengths and shapes; the Invisible Woman (Susan "Sue" Storm), Reed's wife, who can render herself and others invisible and project powerful force fields; the Human Torch (Johnny Storm), Sue's younger brother, who can generate flames, surround himself with them and...
