Flowers in the Attic is the first of the Dollangangers series.  It's also the first best selling novel from V.C. Andrews.  After spending the last decade writing romantic pulp novels under several pen names, she struck gold with this novel.  Andrews used family history and gossip in creating an environment for the fictional family of the Foxworths and Dollangangers.  The first version of the novel was sent back to her by the publisher asking Andrews to "spice" up the manuscript.  …
