Fits most pockets and some budgets

I suppose that eventually, online, up-to-the-minute, interactive travel guides will be available on hand-held devices that you can carry anywhere. Perhaps they already are, for all I know. Until then, this is the kind of guide I favor - small enough to carry in a pocket, containing all the essentials and updated each year. This is ideal for the first time/short term visitor. Once you start biting deeper into the Big Apple, you'll want a more comprehensive guide.

Compared to larger guides, page for page, it's rather expensive. The recommended hotels and restaurants tend to be upmarket, too. So this is not for your budget vacation. It's for a Forbes reader's vacation, I guess.

They claim to have taken the accuracy of the ratings very seriously, which if true is a major plus. I have used many guides that have left me seriously doubting that the contributors have actually been to the place. This one seems authoritative.
