Amazing short stories seemingly tied together by a weak common thread... Enjoyable, but for bits and pieces more than the whole structure.

This is an interesting work of Palahniuk of short stories written by a (fictional)group of people taking part in a writer’s retreat.  It is not as relaxing as they thought it would be--their host Mr. Whittier locks them up in an abandoned theater along with himself, leading them to commit heinous deeds for the sake of being able to report how victimized they were to the media when they finally stumble back out into freedom.  The short stories themselves are the highlight of the book …

My favorite book by Palahniuk - it combines one of his most twisted and darkly hilarious plots with a collection of amazing short stories.
