Just finished the series. Absolutely epic reads. The last two are definitely inferior to the first two books, but Simmons does a nice job coming full circle at the end and answering some of the mysteries from the earlier books, such as the origin of the Shrike, the true nature of the Core, how the Time Tombs work, etc. He also leaves a lot of questions unanswered, which I thought was a nice shout-out to the reader, in a way complimenting our intelligence and challenging us to come up with our own …

This is a very entertainng read - well constructed and thought out science fiction which ranks it up there with "Dune" and "Ender's Game". What is particularly appealing is the way each character unfolds their story as their pilgrimage progresses, with each story very different but equally as interesting.
