Although Stephen King is very popular, I wouldn't suggest following his advice on writing.

More On Writing: A Memoir of the Cr... reviews
review by . July 13, 2010
I've always admired the writing of Stephen King. He is the type of writer that everyone has heard of and everyone will like at least one book written by him. I think that this book could even be enjoyed by those who haven’t really read Kings work.      After reading Stephen Kings “On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft” I am convinced that anyone who writes themselves should read this book. King doesn’t dance around any subjects and stays straight online …

Stephen King has done it again--not in the genre of horror, but in the areas of inspiration and education.  I am not a Stephen King fan.  In fact, I have never read one of his books, but On Writing is one of the most down-to-earth, empowering, liberating and unique books that I have ever read on writing.  It is a perfect combination of an inspirational biography combined with a how to write manual. This book is so multi-functional; it could easily be placed in the motivational area …

On Writing by Stephen King
While this isn't the best book in the world for writers, it is one of the homiest, most honest, most down-to-earth one you will find. While King may have developed verbal diarrhea in many of his later novels, this book is very focused and has that one-on-one feel that King is so famous for.     There's much more to this book other than "how to write a story". King touches on his personal life, his struggles as an adolescent, a college student, a young husband and father, and …
