The best-organized, easiest-to-use card crafting book ever!

This is absolutely the best-organized greeting-card craft book I've yet to read, and I've probably read over a hundred of them, if I count books on specialized paper crafts such as quilling and paper marbling. "Originals" even incorporates a CD with various layouts on it that you can download and print. Included are envelope templates, if you want to make your own envelopes. See customer image of baby boy card, above where I used the author's 'Ribbon Winner' template to construct the card.

Most of the featured cards are rustic or 'American primitive' in style with lots of distressed paper, rusty-looking add-ons, and uneven stitching. If you prefer a more glamorous style (I'm a rhinestones and glitter freak) the author's card designs are very adaptable.

The book itself is spiral-bound, so that it lies flat once you pick out a design you'd like to follow. There are extensive color photographs of finished cards. My one criticism of this book is that a tiny font was used for the card construction instructions - it looks like font size 1 to me. It's good that all of the instructions for a card fit on a single page, but I need to lean in close to read them.

"Originals" is the first book I'd recommend to beginning greeting-card crafters. In fact, I'd recommend it to paper crafters of all skill levels. Be sure to have a goodly supply of buttons, ribbon, sandpaper, and eyelets on hand!
