I love the story Lovely Bones (it is one of my favorite books!) that is written by Alice Sebold, as well. That alone was the reason I decided to pick The Almost Moon from the library. From the moment I started reading this story I hated it. I kept reading in hopes that it would get better, but I was wrong. I eventually started skipping parts just to figure out how the story would end up. The end, was the worst part of the story! I wish I had not picked up the story, or even continued to read it because finding the end of the story was not worth it. I was so disappointed, given how talented the author is. I can not really explain what the storyline is because it will ruin the story for those who are still interested in reading this book. I will say that it starts out right away. It is a shocking beginning and an even more shocking ending. Obviously, I would not recommend for anyone to read this story, especially if you believe in a strong family bond. It is open to interpretation is some areas, and someone may interpret it a lot better than I did.
