Worst book I've ever read!

  • Jul 13, 2010
Rating:
-5

I love the story Lovely Bones (it is one of my favorite books!) that is written by Alice Sebold, as well. That alone was the reason I decided to pick The Almost Moon from the library. From the moment I started reading this story I hated it. I kept reading in hopes that it would get better, but I was wrong. I eventually started skipping parts just to figure out how the story would end up. The end, was the worst part of the story! I wish I had not picked up the story, or even continued to read it because finding the end of the story was not worth it. I was so disappointed, given how talented the author is. I can not really explain what the storyline is because it will ruin the story for those who are still interested in  reading this book. I will say that it starts out right away. It is a shocking beginning and an even more shocking ending. Obviously, I would not recommend for anyone to read this story, especially if you believe in a strong family bond. It is open to interpretation is some areas, and someone may interpret it a lot better than I did.

You've picqued my interest in just how bad this book could be. I read "The Lovely Bones" and found it to be well done given the topic of the grisly murder of a young girl. Somehow the description of both the afterlife and aftermath for the characters of the story brought some peace to that heinous act. I'm wondering what topic or what writing could be so awful as for you to give it the lowest possible rating. I may pick it up just to see what direction Sebold headed in and whether she took a wrong turn with "The Almost Moon."
