The President is informed of a foiled robbery at the Library of Congress. Thieves were attempting to steal a document that showed our forefathers foresaw the economic collapse of our country.
In Mexico, outside a former monastery, Texas Ranger Danny Cavanaugh is contemplating suicide after being charged with the murder of a dirty FBI agent. He observes a nearly naked woman running from a man with a gun.
Danny saves the woman, Sydney Dumas, and learns that she is a judge who was at a meeting analyzing a suit by Japan against the U.S. Sydney thought there was something bogus about the operation and then someone attempted to kill her.
Danny and Sydney head to Washington, D.C. to tell their fears about a plot to the President. However, he's in the midst of action against finding two dirty bombs that would have killed many people.
This is a very complicated plot, readers who enjoy solving a puzzle might be entertained. I found myself going back in the story a number of times to be sure what was happening. In addition, many of the characters seem trustworthy or untrustworthy and change their loyalties to add to the confusion. Although I did find the story entertaining, I found the premise of the story unlikely.
