Exceptional story of the amazing phenomena of energy healing

In the new book The Energy Cure (2010, Sounds True), Dr. William Bengston shares the results of his investigation into hands-on healing and metaphysical medicine. Bengston, a sociology professor, began as a skeptic. Yet, after connecting personally with a gifted healer and developing thorough research methods to examine these mysterious healing phenomena and spiritual healing claims Bengston discovered that the results were very real and reproducible, and that we all apparently have the power to facilitate these impressive healing outcomes. His research not only challenges current dominant paradigms in health and medicine but it also breaks apart some of the assumptions that have been at the foundation of medical research and brings us to encounter the domain of theoretical physics and parapsychology. In these domains of leading edge investigation, the conventional view of solid reality and separate entities is challenged by evidence that there is a non-local realm of energy and consciousness that connects us in ways that scientific experiments can't fully control for.

Bengston's research has spanned about 35 years, beginning in his early 20s and continuing through the present. Some articles and reports on his research can be viewed for free on his website, [...] Bengston's major discoveries unfolded as he parted paths with an experienced healer with whom he had collaborated and learned much about healing phenomena. When the acclaimed healer backed out of participating in a controlled study of hand-on healing with cancer-injected mice, Bengston himself filled in as the healer. The results were beyond conventional explanation, as mice that according to all previous research should have died of cancer in a few weeks experienced a full healing of their tumors. Yet, even a bigger surprise was that in some circumstances even mice not directly exposed to the treatments seemed to be able to heal as well.

Bengston developed a method incorporating the suggestions of his healer friend to help foster effective hands-on healing work and outlines his method in this book. This book challenges both those in mainstream medicine and those in the spiritual and alternative healing communities to expand their perspective. Bengston shares his experiences and observations pertaining to energy healing and provides clear evidence showing that these phenomena are real and important to understand and implement more effectively. Bengston acknowledges that historically the scientific establishment has sought to silence or ignore those who provide valid evidence of unconventional healing phenomena. Whether or not his research and writings are recognized by the dominant institutions of science and medicine we can all learn from this book and apply the exercises that Bengston teaches. This book is very engaging, sharing many of the author's personal experiences as the reader follows along on this journey of discovery. As an experienced energy healer myself I have to say that this book offers some excellent insights and ideas about these phenomena, how they work, and how society reacts to them.

Fantastic review! This is certainly an interesting topic, and the results of these studies definitely make me what to explore this method of healing more and garner a bit more information on how the process works. I'll have to check out this book. Thanks for sharing!
