Perhaps one of Asimov's best; his aliens living in a different dimensional world than our own are truly novel. Been quite a while since I re-read this one.

Awesome Science, Rough Pacing

It's rough to take the position that an award winning novel by one of the most respected science fiction authors is tough to read because of its slow pace, but that is how I would describe The Gods Themselves. It's a novel in three acts that takes place on the earth, on the moon, and in an alternate universe. constains one of the best alien species in SF

The soft ones are one of the coolest alien species I have read of in over 30 years of science fiction reading. They are truly alien, and the nature of the existence and civilation is a well written mystery. The last chapter is only average Asimov, but the aliens make this book a masterpiece. Also note that this book is about as sexy as Asimov ever gets...

A classic masterwork created by an acknowledged master!

To elevate a work of science fiction from mere novel to literary masterwork is an achievement to which few authors can lay claim.
