"Music was my last refuge. I could crawl ... between the notes and curl my back to lonliness."

  • May 24, 2012
Dewey Andreas former DEAL and Delta is asked by Kohl Meir, an Israeli friend to meet him in New York.

Mier and his group of Israeli commandos had rescued Dewey in a former mission when Dewey was betrayed and turned over to the terrorists.

When Dewey arrives in New York, he finds that Meir has been kidnapped by Iranian operatives. They have taken him to Iran to face a mock trial and public execution.  Dewey also learns that the reason Meir wanted to see him was to recruit him for a mission. Israeli officials have learned that Iran has a nuclear weapon ready to be unleashed on Tel Aviv.

The situation seems impossible. Meir is in Iran's most protected prison and is sentenced to die but Dewey can't let that happen. He also cannot ask the United States or Israel for help in case that would lead to his detection and Iran setting off the bomb.

There is action and suspense galore in this story. There is also good character development as the author gives pauses in the action where we can learn more about the character's background and what is going on with government politics.

The story seems well researched and is highly entertaining.

Exciting and relevant tale involving the CIA, Israel, and Iran
I enjoyed this adventure novel so much that I ordered the prior two Ben Coes novels, something I rarely do. The book is very readable, has an exciting plot, likeable protagonists, vicious enemies, suspense, and it is topical. I was approached by the author of this book to provide a review and it is one time that I am glad I accepted. The book is very appropos to today's events in Iran and what might happen as they seek to develop a nuclear bomb. Dewey Andreas is an ex-special forces indvidual who does work outside of the government. His friend Meir Kohl wants to meet with him in Brooklyn. Kohl and Dewey worked together on a prior mission (one of the author's prior books) and Dewey owes Kohl his life.   …
