A Wonderful Book

  • Jul 21, 2010

"The Last Song" was a wonderful book. Nicholas Sparks knows how to write in a way that evokes a full range of emotions. This one had me happy, angry, frustrated, and even crying at certain parts. There are not many books that bring me to tears or that have me feeling for the characters, but this story definitely did.
I loved the setting, the characters, and the entire plotline. With this book I could really picture the seaside location, their home, and I could really "get to know" the characters. I also think this story taught many valuable lessons. I just really enjoyed reading it.
I recommend this book to anyone who asks. I absolutely loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it is that they had Miley Cyrus play the main character in the movie. Even though I have not seen the movie, I couldn't stop picturing her as the girl, and I did not like that. She is just not someone that I enjoy watching and she did not seem to fit the role in the book. So that was the one down point for me with this book.
Overall though, Nicholas Sparks really did an amazing job. He is a genius author and really knows how to speak to his audience. I loved this book and I will definitely continue to read his books in the future.

Nicholas Sparks is an amazing author specializing in romance, family, and truth. His latest novel is about a teenager forced to spend the summer with her estranged father whom she has despised for the past few years. What she doesn't know is that there is love and loss on the beach waiting for her.      Ronnie Miller is a troubled teen from New York who believes her father left her, her little brother, and her mother to pursue his music career amongst other things. Out …

Nicholas Sparks is an author that lately has been giving me mixed feelings.  When he crafts novels like The Notebook or A Walk to Remember... they're good stuff.  Even if they seem a bit cliche.  Cliches don't often bother me that much.  Ideas in and of themselves are often repeated time and time again.  We're not looking at the idea, however; we're looking at the execution of those ideas.  This is what Nicholas Sparks has been able to do so well in the past.  …

Nicholas Sparks is an author who knows his audience well, and this book was definitely yet another heart-string tugging, bringing tears to the eyes novel of a family struggling through divorce, illness, a teen learning who she really is and a father trying so hard to reconnect with his children before it's too late.      The major turn-off for me, however, was how cliche the book turned out to be, and of course, the fact that this novel was specifically written for the movie, …

I have read all of Nicholas Sparks’ novels and he has the unique ability to write sentimental stories that gather a large following. true to Nicholas Sparks’ style, The Last Song is an emotional rollercoaster. As told through the eyes of a teenage girl, Ronnie, it chronicles her story as she stays with her father for a summer in a small town and falls in love. But more than that, she has bonding issues with her father, momentarily falls in …

It's your typical chick flick/romance novel. But that doesn't stop it from being entertaining and engaging. Nicholas Sparks always has just the right amount of cheesy!

Love Nicholas Spark books, and even though you can figure out what is going on with the father, you still end up crying at the end of the book.

Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller is not too happy when her mother decides that she and her younger brother, Jonah, will be spending the summer with their father in Wilmington, North Carolina. It has been three years since her parents divorced and Ronnie has never forgiven him for walking out of their lives. She has not talked to him since then and although her mother is forcing her to go (since she is a few months short of turning 18 - and making her own decisions) she is determined to continue ignoring …

About this book

Product Description

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alientated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.
