A fictional survival guide for any potential zombie invasion, written by author Max Brooks
< read all 5 reviews I have always been a huge fan of monsters and all themes Horror related. It is because of this that my jaw dropped the first time I ran across "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. Needless to say I purchased this book the moment I laid eyes on it. Max Brooks is a scary man just for the fact that he must spend all day thinking about Zombies. After reading this book I am certain that he is the leading expert for the entire world in all zombie related material.
Max spends quite the majority of this book discussing every possible zombie killing impliment from chainsaws to morning stars and various forms of body armor to save your skin from the carneverous dead. He even goes as far to draw detailed schematics for specific traps that would aid in the removal of any zombies in precarious places. The tone of the book is "Dead" serious and actually makes you start thinking, "So I hope I know what to do now once the Zombie Appocalypse happens!"
This book is done up much like a text version of those black and white contingency plan videos that where shown to children in schools during the Cold War Crisis, and the layout of the book is such that you feel like you are reading a boy scouts manual. However, little Johnny won't learn how to start a fire from this manual. He will learn the proper way to make a barricade to hold out a zombie, what is the ideal caliber of gun to carry with you for proper zombie dispatching, and the reason why ponds and oceans will be so dangerous even after the zombie catastrophe on land is put in check.
Even if you aren't the biggest horror fan and don't find any entertainment from a cheesey zombie flick, you can still enjoy reading this book. It has a charm and wit played out calmly through formal informative thought.
