Max Brooks has been to the "Zombie" fan's world what Tolkien may be considered to the fantasy-lover's; his two works, 2003's "The Zombie Survival Guide" and 2006's "World War Z" have both been met with widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike.  In "The Zombie Survival Guide", Brooks uses what must be considered astute knowledge of the Zombie-Horror film genre to create a step-by-step preparation manual for any type of zombie apocalypse. Within are included tips on what supplies to gather, what weapons and armor will suit you best, where it would be most efficient to hole up and defend from the zombie hordes, even theories and ideas of ways to survive that haven't come to fruition as of now. Written in the style of any quality Army field manual, The Zombie Survival Guide may be a flight of fantasy but, for the lover of all things zombie, it comes off as both a fun flight of fancy and a potentially helpful one if the unthinkable should ever occur. Max Brooks shows both infective creativity and a wide knowledge of one of the more frightening and influential sub-genres of horror entertainment here, and the book is a must-read for anyone who ever said they loved any of George Romero's "Living Dead" films.

Awesome Review!  I'm going to definitely have to check this out!  I actually just started reading Pride, Prejudice and Zombies which so far is an awesome book!  You should check it out.  You might also enjoy the movie, Fido as well.  I also wanted to let you know that you can now share your reviews using the new share box at the top of your reviews!

I have always been a huge fan of monsters and all themes Horror related.  It is because of this that my jaw dropped the first time I ran across "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. Needless to say I purchased this book the moment I laid eyes on it. Max Brooks is a scary man just for the fact that he must spend all day thinking about Zombies.  After reading this book I am certain that he is the leading expert for the entire world in all zombie related material.    …

Should zombies ever rise, I know I will now be prepared! Anyone with any question of that would do good to purchase this book. It really has everything you could think of in case of a zombie uprising; shelter, food, weapons, transportation. Even though this is fictional, it reads like an actual how-to, making it that much more interesting. I'd highly recommend World War Z, too.
