these guys were great. We used them 2 days on a recent trip to Punta Mita. Day one we had 16 people in our group so we took out two pangas (boats) and went over to La Lancha. The experienced surfers jumped out of the boat and paddled over to the break, while the beginners and the viewers/beach goers went into the beach.
The kids that were doing the lessons were all good surfers, but i think they really wanted to surf rather than teach. I can't blame them... the break was great. But i've had a few surf lessons for groups back here in the states and the teaching aspect was missing a little bit. But i will say that all 3 of our beginners got up on at least one wave... so that's a win in my book.
As far as board rentals, they had a nice selection of short boards, long boards, and SUP (stand up paddle boards). We took them all out.
the second day we only took 1 boat (but they really wanted us to take 2 boats, because i think the other kid really wanted to surf with us) and we checked out a few other breaks up on the Punta Mita point, but eventually decided on La Lancha again because it looked best. Our captain was really cool to zigzag back and forth for a while with us before we decided.
All in all... a great experience and i will use them again next time i'm down there for sure.
ps... check out their logo. It's a guy bailing and snapping his board... the caption says "don't do this"... good advice.
We recently went surfing with the Mictlan Surf School on a trip to Punta Mita, Mexico and had a great time. The "surf school" is located near the Punta de Mita (Punta Mita) marina, which is a tiny little marina packed full of pangas (a panga is a small fishing boat). There are a couple of surf schools to choose from in this small town (there was at least one directly across the Mictlan surf school). Even though there are other operators to choose from, I … more
