Same as it ever was - only more. Whitey learned the ropes from Jake back in the day and he still has the same cheesesteaks, tuna, and hot and cold sandwiches as when the place opened. But now there's even more - fries, o-rings, Falafels. Los Angeles Magazine gave him a thumbs-up. The Cordon Bleu rocks.

Couldn't agree more on the Cordon Bleu. Great sandwich (with hot and sweet peppers).

this used to be Papa Jakes cheese steaks. they have a new name but cheese steaks seem very similar.

It seems to me that Porto's Surf Cafe does not receive the same buzz as the prior spot Papa Jake's.  Although, having experienced both extensively, the under rated Porto's is really growing on me.  Ryan White, the new owner and Manhattan Beach native, worked at Papa Jake's for a long period of time so you will definitely see a lot of similarities.  Those Papa Jake fans will be happy to see almost no difference to the signature Philly cheesesteak, having the same roll and garnished …
