Run Henry Run!

  • Jun 26, 2012
Henry Steadman is a plastic surgeon on his way to a convention to play golf and make a speech. On the way to the hotel he is pulled over by a cop for no apparent reason. The cop seems a little hostile and accusing and pretty soon more cops arrive and Henry is handcuffed.

Eventually things calm down and the first cop is letting him go when a mysterious blue sedan pulls up and a shooter kills the cop that was harrassing Henry. Henry chases the sedan to no avail and all of a sudden the police think he is the one that murdered the cop. So begins Henry's nightmare.

Henry tries to get help from his golfing buddy but he is soon murdered and it looks like Henry killed him too. Pretty soon more "damning" evidence starts showing up implicating Henry as a psycho killer.

The book than follows Henry's struggle to stay free and catch the real killer. It is almost like Richard Kimball chasing his one-armed man (in fact there are references to The Fugitive in the book). Henry's only hope is Claire, a woman that took a call from him and seemed to believe he might be innocent and might be willing to help.

I was gripped from the start and there are several points of high tension throughout the book. The author offers some clues to what is going on in the Prologue of the book but it is only later that the reader finally figures out why Henry is be used as a patsy. This is my third Gross novel and it is by far the best.

A gripping, suspenseful, and dramatic novel
This is an interesting, indeed gripping, suspenseful, and dramatic story with essentially three fascinating plots. Henry Steadman is a very successful plastic surgeon; he is kind hearted, popular, respected, and has even donated much of his time in Nicaragua helping restore faces of impoverished people. He realizes that in just 15 seconds a person's life can be changed and improved. He feels that today is such a day. But then he is pulled over by an over-enthusiastic and aggressive police officer …
