I really may not even have the words to explain how incredibly beautiful and amazing this show was. And I'm a pretty wordy person. You sort of expect to get swept up and inspired by these things, so you have a bit of buy-in before it even comes on. But WOW. SOOO many segments were just defying all logic and gravity and any other reasonable explanation of how THAT many lights and THAT many dancers and THAT incredible costuming and performance could even all coexist... and come through via TV. I cannot even begin to imagine what it must've been like in person. The colors and lighting and cultural meaning behind every detail all came together to create something that you really haven't ever seen before. It's sort of like the first time you saw the Matrix. Your brain isn't even sure how to process what you're seeing. So very cool -- and very moving as well. And so nice to feel such positivity toward the culture and the people and their incredible talent to put this together. Certainly made history, and set the tone for an unprecedented level of excitement for the games.
