2010 Emmy Gowns - My Favorites

  • Aug 30, 2010

Watching the 2010 Emmy’s last night allowed me to momentarily fantasize that I was right there on the red carpet (sweating, not breathing, and starving) along with the star and starlets. The dresses this year were stunning and gave us a look into what will be in this fall!

Here are some of my favorites!

Nina Dobrev absolutely wowed in this silk Zuhair Murad masterpiece. Chopard diamonds and a classic updo really set off her gorgeous metallic gown. Recreate this look with this Tory Burch Ardell One Shoulder Dress $495.00

Claire Danes, nominated for “Temple Grandin” Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie winner sparkled in a Swarovski crystal-encrusted Armani Prive strapless number. Recreate this look with this Alice + Olivia Rigbi Sequin Tube Dress $495.00

We also saw an outstanding array of purple gowns and dresses on the red carpet. If one this is for sure, this fall will be a purple and gold year!!

I adore Claire Dane's dress!  I bet all of these are going to be at Forever 21 soon :P  Have you seen this Emmy fashion rating game on TV Squad?  It's kind of fun to rate them and see what the majority of other people think.

Even though some people didn't like Christina Hendrick's dress, I loved these three!

I love the purple and navy colors this season! So pretty and fresh - much better then boring black. There is nothing I hate more then a black dress. Unless it's on Audrey Hepburn.

About this topic

By SAMANTHA CRITCHELL, Associated Press:

A late-summer sunset with vibrant purple, red and blue gowns dominated the horizon at the 62nd Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. One-shoulder silhouettes, updos and bold jewelry also were big trends.

Lea Michele, a fairly new player to the red-carpet frenzy, nailed it in a very grown-up navy Oscar de la Renta gown with a strapless neckline and ruffled mermaid bottom.

"I wanted to do blue -- I've done black and green," Michele said. "I was ready for blue to be the color, and I love Oscar de la Renta so when I saw this, it was like he read my mind."

This could have been a too-mature look for Michele, but her youthful energy was her best accessory, said Lawrence Zarian, of TV Guide Network's Fashion Team.

Michele is petite, noted Karla Martinez, fashion market director for W magazine, but the silhouette of her gown accentuated her shape just right.

"Glee" co-star Jane Lynch was one of the biggest -- and surprising -- hits of the night. The purple one-shoulder by Ali Rahimi "suited her spectacularly," Zarian said.

January Jones and Christina Hendricks, both from the heavily stylized "Mad Men," lived up to their on-screen fashionista counterparts in colorful look-at-me gowns. Jones wore a bright, electric-blue corset gown with an uneven hem and stiff A-line skirt by Versace, and Hendricks wore a pale lilac Zac Posen with feathers on the sleeves and ...
