The Peanuts gang celebrates Thanksgiving

While A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving may not be as well loved as A Charlie Brown Christmas or It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, it's still an enjoyable special. In this special, Peppermint Patty ends up inviting herself, Marcie, and Franklin over to Charlie Brown's place for Thanksgiving, since Peppermint Patty's dad is going to be out of town over the holiday. Unfortunately, Charlie Brown and his family already have plans, but he never gets a chance to tell Peppermint Patty because she keeps interrupting him. Can Charlie Brown be able to host his friends for a Thanksgiving dinner and still make it to his grandmother's?

One of my favorite parts of this special is the "little birdie" song about Woodstock, and watching Snoopy and Woodstock trying to set up a table and chairs for the Thanksgiving feast while it's going. While some of the things that happen in this special may not be entirely believable, it's still fun to watch right around Thanksgiving.

There are no special features on this disc. However, also included on this DVD is The Mayflower Voyagers, which was a Peanuts special that was produced as part of the This is America, Charlie Brown specials produced in the late 1980's that depicted events in American history. In this special, the Peanuts gang are depicted as being part of the group that traveled to America on the Mayflower. While this may be a rather historically accurate special, it's kind of boring when compared to A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. While my kids get some enjoyment out of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, they've never really been interested in The Mayflower Voyagers. The Mayflower Voyagers is also available on the 2-disc DVD set, This is America, Charlie Brown.

I wrote this review after watching a copy of this DVD that my husband and I purchased.
