Disappointment

My cat is a scratcher, she scratches the carpet, the couch, the side of the bed, and even the various scratching toys we have around the house. She loves her Turbo Scratcher, so we figured when her Grandpa gave her the Emery Cat that it would be an easy sell. It wasn't. She has no interest in this thing. We didn't expect her to love it right away, but I thought once the new box smell wore off and it started to smell like home, she would like it. It's been three weeks, and she's not so much as given it a scratch. I've tried moving it around the house to locations that she scratches and I've tried almost covering it with catnip. She's just not into it.

As for the product itself, the base is made of plastic that is more akin to the material that cat toys should come packaged it than to a sturdy plastic that cat toys should be made of.

If I had to describe the emery board itself, it seems like the same corrugated cardboard that is in the Turbo Scratcher, but it seems to have been treated with a material that is a mix between sandpaper and an actual emery nail file.

I think, were my cat actually willing to use this devise that it would work well filing her nails. If your cat does use the emery cat, I would recommend that you do monitor the length of your cat's claws. It does seem like the emery cat could hurt your cat if they continued to use it once their nails were filed past a certain length.
