< read all 4 reviewsAnthropologie is my candy store. I walk in and covet everything I see. That includes the clothes, jewelry, handbags, shoes, home decorations, gifts, the store displays, the dressing room, the tissue they wrap the purchases in…I could go on and on.
The store and the products make my imagination swirl. It's a bit like getting lost in a foreign world. There is so much to look at and explore. It's much more than shopping, Anthro is an experience. Their style is vintage with a modern-day twist. I would even say a "feminine-romantic" vogue. All of their offerings are highly detailed, eclectic, funky and truly unique. I don't see their sweaters on every girl in town. I like that. Who wants to be just like everyone else?
The only drawback is the price. Mucho expensivo, especially if you would like one of everything. However, secretly, I believe their brand commands their high-priced goods. Anthro uses repetitive design of one object (i.e. a lamp, newspapers, old books, light bulbs, flowers) to create creative and larger than life displays. Their in-store ambience makes the clothing and gifts even more attractive. They've have effectively transported their customers to a high-class vintage market where I believe that if I buy a hand towel decorated with birds in bold colors (for $25.00) I really am a bit cooler and a bit more bohemian. It's all about who you want to be and what style you want to project.
If you haven't checked out their website, I highly recommend it. It's the best example of e-commerce I've seen. They've effectively incorporate multi-media to make the shopping experience entertaining. Their photos are creative and fabulous. They present you with all of their categories, as well as gift ideas and complete outfits.
Go ahead, give fabulous gifts and play dress-up.
