The first thing I love about this collection is its name. "April Enchanted" excited the little girl in me so much that I was convinced I loved it before I even saw it. I was expecting pastels, lots of tulle, and sparkles. My taste hasn't matured much since I was five...
What I found in this collection though was much more classic and subdued, much to my dismay, but a huge relief to the avid J.crew shopper. Despite my expectations, I still am quite fond of the collection. It's full of great floaty tanks, basic yet pretty tops, and shorts and pants that can be worn with everything. J.Crew always has pieces that have beautiful construction, great fit, and details beyond belief.
The only thing I am not diggin' about this collection is the prints. They just seem a bit blah to me, but maybe the online pictures don't do them justice.
My favorite piece in the whole collection are these "Luxe Terry Un-Sweatpants." I can't even explain why. They are so unlike me, yet I am completely obsessed. Plus, they compliment my post coming up next week on CollegeFashionista.com!
My first thought when checking out J. Crew's April Enchanted collection was," Wow, great photography." Notice, I did not say, " Wow, great clothes." While J.Crew is known for their classic staples, I can't help but wonder who would look chic in these basic clothes unless they were stick-thin like the models on the website. Without the awesome styling, superb photography, and great model poses, what is left for the April Echanted Collection? Black skinny pants, … more
I'll be the first to admit that J.Crew has mastered the basics, and has always got your back when you are in a frenzy to find something simple, but highly necessary, like a black skirt, or a cropped jacket. However, if I really want to spice up my closet, it is definitely not the first store I go to. And Spring is always about reinventing yourself. Therefore, I was not expecting to find much in their April Enchanted collection that would catch my eye. But I was … more
I do like the collection to an extent. It has simple separates that I feel can work nicely for summer internships. My favorite piece is the cream ruffled tank. It's chic and can work with many different outfits. However, as much as I love the simplicity and chicness of the collection, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm a huge color person, and the dusty pinks and hints of purple prints aren't enough to satisfy me. I'm just a big fan of "wow" prints and colors. … more
The inside cover says it all: "Our collection is designed for mixing and matching." Indeed, a lot of their pieces are shown throughout the catalog, something I've always liked because it shows how you can build a wardrobe. The inside April Enchanted catalog led me to believe it would be filled with floral prints, but I only found a few. It seems J. Crew, known for its classic garments, has developed a bit of an edge. Everything I saw in … more
I think there is definitely a "J Crew" kind of person. I've even heard people describe their own personal style as "very J Crew" but I never really have been able to understand how someone can base their entire look on this aesthetic. While the April Enchanted Collection from J Crew is lovely as a whole, taking individual pieces out of the lookbook and putting them on a College Fashionista is just yawn-inducing. Well, maybe I shouldn't say that. I could … more
After looking through JCrew's Spring 2010 collection, I concluded that the must have item currently in stores is the baggy broken-in boyfriend short. Following the craze of boyfriend jeans, JCrew is right on target producing a short that is a little looser then the usual teeny cut-off shorts seen for spring. I like how they are showing the boyfriend short in fabrics other then just denim, allowing some diversity in women's spring collections. My favorite pair from April … more
