I love this book series. There was a time when it was all that I read. It is about a human boy who finds out about a fairy world underground. These aren't your typical fairies. They are an advanced civilization who laugh at anything human technology does. They're years ahead. In the first book of the series, Artemis kidnaps Holly Short, a leprechaun, or the LEP (Lower Elements Police). The LEP has a ransom fund for any of their officers that get kidnapped. They bring her to the Fowl Manor. She can't leave because she is bound by fairy code. She would lose her magical powers if she disobeyed it. The LEP can't get her out because Artemis' butler and bodyguard is too much for them. Artemis stole fairy technology to help them. In the end of book one, he gets the ransom and they blue rinse his manor. A blue rinse kills any living things, but leaves structures intact. A troll did the damage to the structure. The fairies can't go into the house while he's still alive, so they go in. They start getting sick because he somehow lived through the blue rinse. Over the next few books, the fairies need to go back to Artemis to get help. Other fairies are trying to take over and the LEP can't do it on their own. Artemis and Butler (his butler / bodyguard) are the only ones that know about the fairy world. Getting onward in the series, the fairies and Artemis work together. They both get to like each other. Artemis stops trying to take them over. The fairies mind wipe him for some reason thinking they'd be safe forever. Artemis forgets about them. Could he become the evil villain he once was and expose the fairy world yet again? Read the books to find out. This book series is especially great for teenagers. When I was 15 until now, I anxiously waited for the books to come out.

Quick Tip by . July 01, 2010
one of the greatest books about fairies ive ever read. it doesnt portray them as some hummingbird size, defenseless race. it describes them as very sophisticated, living underground unaware to human civilization. i read the first... i believe five books? i got the first, eternity code, opal deception, arctic incident, lost colony, and the graphic novel. maybe im missing one i read. but i know theres a few more out now. its been a year or so. but deffinately reccomend these to any reader!
